Información útilIn recent years, different CAD-CAM fabrication systems have been incorporated, including milling machines with variable capacities as well as milling and sintering strategies specific to each ceramic system and depending on the manufacturer's recommendations.
On the other hand, the influence of different cementation techniques on the mechanical and optical properties of the different types of ceramics used in the construction of indirect restorations has been demonstrated.
From a clinical point of view, the objective is to achieve maximum strength, with the least possible thickness, and maximizing the esthetic integration of these materials with a survival rate comparable to the classic alternatives based on conventional layering processes.
The author aims to review from a laboratory and clinical perspective the most recommended protocols for the use of glass-ceramic and polycrystalline ceramic systems obtained by milling, and their influence on long-term survival.
